Simon Cowell defends Miami holiday with baby

Music mogul Simon Cowell has hit back at critics who blasted him for taking baby Eric on holiday to Miami when he was only 10 days old. The X Factor boss and his girlfriend Lauren Silverman jetted to Florida for a beach holiday with Eric - who was born in New York on 14 February (14) - and his parenting skills were attacked by several critics. However, Cowell has now hit back, insisting he and Silverman are proud parents and would never put their son at risk. He tells Britain's Daily Mail newspaper, "I just want people to be clear that, yes, he has gone on a plane very early on, but the paediatrician in New York cleared him to travel. We would not have done it otherwise. We would never dream of putting him a risk. "I know there will be photos where Eric looks like he is in the sun, or photos where he looks like there's a dog in his face, or it looks like we aren't being great parents - but that isn't the case. We are taking great care of him all the time."

George Lopez arrested for public intoxication

George Lopez was arrested for public intoxication in a Canadian casino Thursday night after passing out on the floor. The actor/comedian made light of the situation at the Caesars Windsor in a statement to USA TODAY, saying, "Tied one on last night. Not feeling great this morning. I was trying to sleep it off, unfortunately, it was on the casino floor." A photo of Lopez lying on the floor was circulating on social media Friday, and a spokesperson for Windsor police confirmed to People that police officers took a male into custody at 11:25 p.m. "from the OPP Casino Enforcement Unit. The male was subsequently released with no charges." TMZ first reported the arrest.

X-Factor BOOTED by FOX

It's official. Fox has decided to cancel The X Factor after three seasons. The network announced it's decision on February 7. Though the original X Factor has been a solid hit in the U.K. for years, the show never quite caught on when Simon Cowell tried to make the jump across the pond. All three seasons saw fairly low ratings, with this most recent season's numbers coming in particularly low. "I've had a fantastic time over the last 12 years, both on The X Factor and American Idol," Simon said in a statement. "And apart from being lucky enough to find some amazing talent on the shows, I have always had an incredible welcome from the American public (most of the time!)." Up next, the music mogul is heading back to his homeland. "Last year, for a number of reasons, I had to make a decision to return to the U.K. version of The X Factor in 2014. So for now, I'm back to the U.K. and I want to thank FOX for being an incredible partner and I also want to thank everybody who has supported my shows. America, I’ll see you soon!

Amazing Grace Bobby Hardy

In this age of auto tune, Pro Tools, mixes and remixes, sometimes you need to stop and listen to an old time gospel hymn, sung flatfooted and with minimal instrumentation, like it used to be.

This is what Bobby Hardy of Hollywood, California gives us. Accompanied by piano and synth-strings, the film, stage and television actor delivers the chestnut of all hymns with appropriate dignity.

Real Talk w/Bobby Hardy welcome's recording artist David Martinez of The David Martinez Band Wednesday Sept 8th at 4:00pm PST www.blogtalkradio.com

David Martinez, singer/songwriter, born and bred in Corpus Christi, Texas, will release his independent debut record this Summer. Music started at a young age for David, who was influenced by his father, a multi-instrumentalist. Influences at 4 years old, included Grand Funk Railroad, Kiss, Steve Miller Band, Led Zeppelin, and countless others.

At 15 years old, David's father purchased his first guitar and David immediately started learning chords and how to play to the likes of Zeppelin and Hendrix. Dave hooked up with friends from school and immediately started to song write. This is where a foundation was built and now results are starting to be seen.

In the summer of 2006, David hit the road with Jimmy Willden and Hope Cassity and toured the Western and Northern part of the US. This was an experience that was priceless and led to a meeting with one of David's main influences, Leroy. Leroy came out with his debut album in 2000 and was one of the few signed to Hollywood Records. Before that, Leroy fronted a band called HOG, which was part of the Geffen family.

After the tour ended, David returned and began working on songs he wanted to record and asked Leroy if he would produce. To his surprise, Leroy was ecstatic and excited to be working with someone he could mentor and take to the next level. Leroy has worked with the likes of Bob Cavallo Sr., Jack Joseph Puig, John Mayer, Steve Jordan, and Pino Palladino. In March of 2007, David flew to Los Angeles and recorded two songs at Leroy's Place in Hollywood, CA. One of the songs was "Can't Find You", which served as the catalyst to work on a record with Leroy and his great musician friends.

At the end of May, David jumped in his car, drove from Corpus Christi, Texas to Los Angeles, California, and made it in time to start recording June 1st. Leroy enlisted drummer Kane McGee of The Northstar Session, Cha Chi who is a percussionist in the L.A area, Adam MacDougall, keyboardist, who is a current member of The Black Crowe's and has played with Leroy, Nikka Costa, Macy Gray, and The Jayhawks. This was an experience beyond belief and Leroy pushed David to the limit and summoned the untapped talent within himself. Leroy also played lead guitar, percussion, slide guitar, mandolin, harmonica, backing vocals, and acoustic guitar.
