Steve Carell to Star in Disney's 'Brooklyn Family Robinson'

"Finding Nemo" co-writer David Reynolds is penning the project, which Carell is producing.

The studio has picked up the family adventure comedy with heart as a starring vehicle for Steve Carell.

Carell will produce the project with his partners at Carousel Productions, Charlie Hartsock and Vance DeGeneres. The trio are partnering with Disney-based David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman of Mandeville Films.

David Reynolds, who was nominated for an Oscar for co-writing Pixar's 2003 classicFinding Nemo, is penning the script. The project is based on an original idea by Reynolds, Hartsock and Degeneres.

Plot details are vague in order to protect the project's secrets, but it is known that Brooklyn Family Robinson centers on the patriarch of a family, to be played by Carell, who relocates his family from city life to island life.  
Kristin Burr is overseeing for the studio.

Reynolds, who also worked on animated fare such as Atlantis: The Lost Empire and The Emperor's New Groove, is repped by Gersh and Ziffren Brittenham.

Hoberman and Lieberman just set up the untitled Tupperware movie at Sony, which has Sandra Bullock attached as 1950s marketing exec Brownie Wise. The last produced Muppets Most Wanted for Disney.

Brooklyn Family Robinson reteams Carell with Disney, as he stars in the studio's family movieAlexander and Terrible, Horrible, No Good Very Bad Day, which is due to open Oct. 10.  His dramaFoxcatcher, meanwhile, will have its North American premiere at the Toronto Film Festival.

Carousel just set up the comedy International Incident at Summit with Ken Jeong attached to star.

Carell and the company are repped by WME and Steve Sauer at Media 4.

Robin Thicke, Paula Patton List Their Hollywood Hills House for $3 Million

Five months after they officially separated, the "Blurred Lines" singer and his wife of nine years have put their marital home on the Bird Street up for sale.

Following months of begging for a reunion and even naming his latest album after her,Robin Thicke and his wife Paula Patton have put their house on the market.

The couple, who were married for nine years before announcing their separation in February, listed the three bedroom, three-and-a-half bathroom home in the Hollywood Hills on the exclusive Bird Streets for $2.985 million.

Perched above the Sunset Strip, the house was built in 1965 and bought by Robin's father, Alan Thicke, in the 1990s, before it was passed onto his son in 2005. 

One of the bedrooms is currently being used as a recording studio by the "Blurred Lines" singer, while floor-to-ceiling windows showcase views of the impressive canyon, downtown and city below.

Outside the colorful 3,158-square-foot property there is a private pool and spa, plus a two-car garage and gated driveway winding up the secluded cul-de-sac. 

Thicke, 37, and Patton, 38, were married in 2004 after first meeting in a hip-hop club when the singer was just 16 years old. They have one son, Julian Fuego, who was born in April 2010.

In the latest effort to win back the love of his life, Thicke premiered his kid-filled "Still Madly Crazy" music video — inspired by their wedding photos — on Good Morning America earlier this month.

"We were together; we were childhood sweethearts. She's still the best person I ever met. I just thought the least I could do was to devote an album to her," he said on the morning show while promoting his latest album, Paula.

Amid rumors that the power couple is splitting up, Beyonce posted a family photo of her and husband Jay Z both holding hands with their daughter Blue Ivy on

Like all those other family photos before it, this pic did not include a caption or Blue's face.

It was, however, quite popular with the Bey-hive. Since first posting on Monday, July 21, the pic already has over 733,000 likes and over 5,600 comments.

Donald Sterling files new suit in attempt to block Clippers sale. Go away Donald Sterling!

Donald Sterling, who vowed to sue the NBA until the day he dies, filed a new legal action Tuesday in his effort to hang onto the Los Angeles Clippers, a lawsuit in which he asserted he is the only one who can determine the team's future.

The new suit, which was filed even as his attorneys were in a courtroom in the same building fighting to scuttle his wife's effort to sell the team, asserts that Sterling is the only shareholder in the corporation that owns the franchise. As a result, Donald Sterling contends that he alone has the power to sell the team.

Sterling named the NBA, league commissioner Adam Silver, his estranged wife, Shelly Sterling, and the corporation that owns the Clippers, LACBasketball Club Inc., in the suit.

The new suit by Sterling, who's under fire for his racially charged comments to an alleged mistress, is his latest effort to block the sale of the Clippers negotiated by Shelly Sterling, who accepted a $2 billion bid from former Microsoft executive Steve Ballmer.

Shelly Sterling took that step after removing her husband from decision-making authority in the family trust that held the shares of the team, a move she made after two doctors examined him and concluded that he was mentally incapacitated.

Then she went to court seeking a judge's confirmation of her right to do that, sparking the trial that is ongoing in a downtown Los Angeles courtroom.

One of Donald Sterling's attorneys, Bobby Samini, denied that the new suit was simply a last-ditch effort to scuttle that deal out of fear that Sterling is going to lose the ongoing court fight.

"It has nothing to do with derailing the sale or not," Samini said. "I don't think we've been coy about this: We've always said we're going to fight and we're not going to sell the team. We're not the ones who filed the probate petition. They filed it. We started in this courthouse by their action. So we're not the ones running to court proactively."

But Samini also acknowledged that he believes the sale of the Clippers to Ballmer, which must be completed by Aug. 15 under the terms of the contract he signed with Shelly Sterling, cannot be concluded until the new suit is settled.

"I don't think you can have a sale until the issues in our corporate lawsuit have been adjudicated by a jury," Samini said.

Attorneys for Shelly Sterling and Ballmer already had left the courthouse when the clerk's office confirmed the filing of the new suit, but attorney Pierce O'Donnell released this statement late Tuesday:

"Donald's latest lawsuit is a frivolous, last ditch act of desperation by a
delusional, bitter man. This action shows once more how obsessed he is with
ruining a record-setting $2 billion sale of the Los Angeles Clippers — a sale that
would solve the problems his racist rant started three months ago. As
testimony established today, Head Coach Doc Rivers doesn't want to coach for
him, the players don't want to play for him, the season ticket holders are about
to bolt and the major sponsors aren't willing to spend another dime until
there's a new owner. As Clippers CEO Dick Parsons made clear on the witness
stand: Donald's continuing ownership will put the franchise into a 'death
spiral.'"

James Garner, legendary film and television actor, dies at 86

James Garner, the charming leading man from Oklahoma who made it look easy on NBC's The Rockford Files and in films opposite Doris Day, Julie Andrews and Sally Field during more than a half-century in show business, has died. He was 86.

Garner died Saturday, TMZ reported. Police were dispatched to his Los Angeles home at approximately 8 p.m. No cause of death has been made available. He had a severe stroke in 2008 and rarely was seen in public after that.

The amiable actor was best known for playing the Los Angeles private eye in Rockford, which ran from 1974-80 before knee and back injuries -- many sustained because he did his own stunts -- forced him to quit. "I couldn't take that many beatings any more," he once said. "Every hiatus, I had a knee operation for five straight years, and sometimes for both knees."

Garner was nominated for the Emmy for best actor in a drama series for five consecutive years, winning in 1977. Rockford, produced by Roy Huggins and writer Stephen J. Cannell, racked up three best drama nominations from 1978-80 and took the trophy in 1978.

Garner also toplined the 1957-62 ABC Western-comedy hybrid Maverick, also produced by Huggins, in which he starred as a dapper cardsharp who would just as soon slip out the back door than face down a gunman. "Bravery gets you nothing but hurt," he once said. Both TV series showcased Garner’s sense of humor and expertise in playing the reluctant hero.

The dark-haired star also appeared in dozens of films, including two light romantic comedies from 1963 with Day, The Thrill of It All and Move Over, Darling; two with Andrews (1964’s The Americanization of Emily and 1982’s Victor Victoria); and one with Field, the 1985 romantic comedy Murphy’s Romance, for which he received his lone Oscar nomination.

Whatever his roles, Garner’s acting appeared effortless. Los Angeles Times critic Charles Champlinwrote in 1986 that “James Garner is to the American character what David Niven was to the English character: a lover in preference to a fighter (but capable of heroics), worldly and charming with elements of the vagabond and the debonair rascal, a sort of innocent rogue with an easy way with urbane dialogue.”

Garner was fastidious about the kind of roles and movies in which he performed.

“I don’t want to do movies with a lot of profanity, and I don’t want to take my clothes off,” he once said. “I don’t do horror pictures, or I would take my clothes off. Seriously, I’m simply not an exhibitionist.”

An open letter to the people who hate Obama more than they love America

I meet you all the time. You hate Obama. You hate gay people. You hate black people, immigrants, Muslims,

labor unions, women who want the right to make choices concerning their bodies, you hate em all. You hate being called racist. You hate being called a bigot. Maybe if you talked about creating jobs more than you talk about why you hate gay people we wouldn't call you bigots. Maybe if you talked about black people without automatically assuming they are on food stamps while demanding their birth certificates we wouldn't call you racist. You hate socialism and social justice. You hate regulations and taxes and spending and the Government. You hate.
 
 You like war. You like torture. You like Jesus. I don't know how in the hell any of that is compatible, but no one ever accused you haters of being over-committed to ideological consistency. You like people who look like you or at least hate most of the things that you hate. You hate everything else.

Now, I know you profess to love our country and the founding fathers (unless you are reminded that they believed in the separation of church and state), but I need to remind you that America is NOT what Fox News says it is. America is a melting pot, it always has been. We are a multi-cultural amalgamation of all kinds of people, and yet you still demonize everyone who is not a rich, white, heterosexual christian male or his submissive and obedient wife.

You hate liberals, moderates, hell, anyone who disagrees with Conservative dogma as espoused by Fox News and Rush Limbaugh. You hate em.

Well, here are the facts, Jack. If you hate the Government then you are unqualified to manage it. If you hate gay people more than you love America than you should take your own advice and get the hell out. There are several countries that are openly hostile to gay people, but they are full of brown people and you don't like them much either from what I understand. It looks like you are screwed, but that's not what I am here to tell you.

Now that you have thrown everything and the kitchen sink at President Obama and it still hasn't worked you are panicking. Obama's approval ratings are still near 50% despite your best efforts to undermine the economy and America's recovery at every step you can. You tried to hold the American economy hostage to force America into default on its' debts, debts that YOU rang up under Bush, so you could blame it on Obama and it failed. You've used the filibuster more than any other Congress ever, going so far as to vote against providing health care access to 9/11 first responders. You remember 9/11, don't you, it's that thing you used to lie us into a war in Iraq, and then when Obama killed Bin Laden and ended the war in Iraq you told people that he hates America and wants the troops to fail. You monsters. You hate Obama with a passion, despite the fact that he is a tax cutting, deficit reducing war President who undermines civil rights and delivers corporate friendly watered down reforms that benefit special interests just like a Republican. You call him a Kenyan. You call him a socialist. You dance with your hatred singing it proudly in the rain like it was a 1950's musical.

Frankly, you disgust me. Your hatred nauseates me. Your bigotry offends me. Your racism revolts me.
Dear haters, I am openly questioning your patriotism.

I think you hate gays, Obama, black people, poor people, all of us, women, atheists and agnostics, Latinos, Muslims, Liberals, all of us, I think you hate every one who isn't exactly like you, and I think you hate us more than you love your country.

I think you hate gay soldiers more than you want America to win its wars.

I don't even think you want America to win wars, you just want America to have wars, never ending wars and the war profiteering it generates. You love that kind of spending, you love spending on faith based initiatives and abstinence based sex education (George Carlin would have loved that one), you love spending on subsidies for profitable oil corporations, you spend like drunken sailors when you are in the White House, but if it is a Democrat then suddenly you cheer when America doesn't get the Olympics because it might make the black President look bad. But oooh you love your country, you say, and you want it back. Well listen here skippy, it isn't your country, you don't own it, it is our country, and America is NOT the religiously extremist Foxbots who hate science, elitist professors and having a vibrant and meaningful sex life with someone we love if Rick Santorum doesn't approve of it. Rick Santorum isn't running for America's fucking high school dance chaperone, he should probably just shut the hell up about sex, but he can't because he has nothing else to run on.

Republicans can NOT win on the issues. They've got NOTHING. All they have is a divide and conquer class war that pits ignorant racist and bigoted people against the rest of us in a meaningless battle of wedge issues and the already proven to fail George W. Bush agenda again of tax cuts for the rich, deregulation, privatization and war profiteering and nothing else, so all they can do is blame black people, gays the government, anybody and everyone else for their own failings. The party of personal responsibility, my ass.

But they love multi-national corporations, just ask a gay hating and racist religious extremist if they think Corporations are people and they will gladly agree, but if you ask them if gay people are people they aren't so sure.

Dear haters, you are the cruel, heartless misinformed assholes who would sell America out to Haliburton in a heartbeat, you would rather pay ZERO taxes than you would see a newly born baby get access to quality health care, you cheer when we discuss denying health care to young people with preventable diseases, and you boo when we discuss the First Ladies plan to cut back on childhood obesity. You are a cross to carry and a flag to wrap yourself in away from being the people who Sinclair Lewis warned us about, but I guarantee that if Fox News told you to dress that way you would, because you are the same blind, ignorant and closed minded dunces who drove this country into a civil war years ago because you are bound to the notion that some men are more equal than others. In short, the reason I proudly wear my union army hat is because of seditious sell outs like you who constantly fuck over working class Americans so a foreign entrepreneur like Rupert Murdoch can get a bigger tax break. If corporations are people, they are neither American patriots nor capable of love. Just like you.

So stop wearing your hate with pride. Stop celebrating your anti-science, anti-math ignorance. Stop using code words to mask your bigotry like "family values", especially when you hate my family and when you stand on the same stage as a guy who has had three marriages or if you share a seat in the Senate with a guy who cheated on his wife with hookers while wearing diapers. You should be ashamed. I know that you are just doing this to motivate your misinformed hate cult base because if they actually knew that your ideas will make them poorer than they are now, they would never vote for you. You are doing your best to impoverish your countrymen so rich people can get bigger tax breaks and you can keep on delivering corporate welfare to the special interests who have bribed you, and I am disgusted by the way you gleefully parade your hatred with aplomb. I don't think you do love America. At least, not as much as you hate everyone in America who isn't exactly like you.
You should think about that, and maybe get some help.

And for the record, I do not hate you. I am embarrassed by you and nauseated by your cruel and thoughtless behavior and your all consuming greed, but I do not hate you. I forgive you and I hope you can change someday, but I don't hate you. You have enough hate in you for the rest of us as it is.

Penn States imprisioned coordinator Jerry Sandusky's adopted son opens up too Oprah about sexual abuse for first time

Years of silence, Matthew Sandusky, the adopted son of imprisoned former Penn State defensive coordinator Jerry Sandusky, is opening up about his suffering as the victim of repeated sexual abuse.

On Thursday, July 17, Sandusky's first public interview will air as he answers questions from Oprah Winfrey on the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN) at 9 p.m. ET, according to the Huffington Post.

Matthew, currently married and a father himself, will describe the grooming patterns and routines he endured while being raised by Jerry and Dottie Sandusky.

The Post says Matthew will respond to Dottie Sandusky's accustions against her husband's victims and share details on Jerry Sandusky's nightly ritual. He is one of six children Jerry and Dottie Sandusky adopted.

Jerry Sandusky was convicted in June 2012 on 45 counts of child sexual abuse, found guilty of raping or fondling 10 boys he had met through the acclaimed youth charity he founded, The Second Mile.

Matthew had originally been expected to be a defense witness for his father until the trial, when he told investigators that he also had been abused by Jerry Sandusky. At the time of the trial, Matt Sandusky claimed the abuse started when he was 8 years old. He recalled in a police interview that he would pretend to be asleep to avoid being touched.

He since petitioned for a legal name change for himself and his family and was one of 26 people who won a monetary settlement based on the abuse.

Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg trolls Scalia in blistering dissent of Hobby Lobby ruling

On Monday, Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg penned a blistering dissent to the Supreme Court's 5-4 ruling that the government can't require certain employers to provide insurance coverage for methods of birth control and emergency contraception that conflict with their religious beliefs. Ginsburg wrote that her five male colleagues, "in a decision of startling breadth," would allow corporations to opt out of almost any law that they find "incompatible with their sincerely held religious beliefs."
