Joan Rivers -- Medical Screw Up Reportedly Caused Death

The routine surgical procedure Joan Rivers was supposed to undergo turned deadly when a doctor who arrived at the clinic with the legendary comic’s entourage performed an unplanned biopsy on her vocal cords, a medical source who was briefed on the case told The News.

Such a procedure is not supposed to be performed outside of a hospital, according to medical experts.

The Aug. 28 biopsy at Yorkville Endoscopy, an E. 93rd St. clinic that usually only deals with digestive issues, caused Rivers' vocal chords to seize — a condition doctors call a laryngospasm — cutting off her air supply, the source said.

“A biopsy like that should only be done in a hospital setting,” the source said.  “If she had been in a hospital when it happened, she might have been okay,” the source said.

Rivers never recovered and died a few days later.

His legend was documented in "Lords of Dogtown," in which he was played by Emile Hirsch.

Adams was out of the country for the first time in 20 years, according to TMZ. He had been in and out of jail since the 1980s on various charges.

Rest In Peace Lauren Bacall

Lauren Bacall, the longtime Oscar-winning actress, has died, according to reports on Tuesday.

She was 89 when she passed, TMZ reported. The wesbite cited family members as its source of information.

It said she died on Tuesday morning in her home.

The death was first reported on by MSNBC’s Thomas Roberts on Tuesday night via his Twitter account. 

Bacall is best known for her roles in “Key Largo,” “The Mirror Has Two Faces,” “Designing Woman,” and “To Have and Have.”

Bacall was also married to Humphrey Bogart from 1945 to 1957, when he died. She later married Jason Robards in 1961 before getting a divorce in 1998.

Roberts or TMZ did not any other details about her death. “BREAKING NEWS – actress Lauren Bacall passes away at the age of 89 according to my source who is connected with friends & family,” Roberts wrote on Twitter.

She leaves behind three children.

The death of a Staten Island man who collapsed after being placed in an illegal chokehold by a police officer has been ruled a homicide.

Eric Garner died from compression of the neck and chest while being physically restrained by police officers, the New York City Medical Examiner said Friday.

Garner’s asthma, obesity and high blood pressure were contributing factors in his death, the autopsy determined.

It was the latest development in a case that sparked national outrage after The Daily News obtained video showing Officer Daniel Pantaleo putting Garner in the chokehold.

Garner’s widow said she was relieved that the ME confirmed what had been suspected for weeks.

“Thank God the truth is finally out,” Esaw Garner told The Daily News. “Thank God for that.”

In a terse statement, the Staten Island District Attorney’s office said it had been in touch with the ME.

“We await the issuance of the official death certificate and the autopsy report,” it said. “The investigation into Mr. Garner's death continues."

Garner, 43, died July 17 while being busted for allegedly selling untaxed cigarettes.

“I can’t breathe,” Garner said repeatedly as he was taken down by the cops.

Pantaleo has since been reassigned. He could not be reached for comment.

The NYPD banned chokeholds in 1994 after a Bronx man named Anthony Baez was killed by an officer who placed him in one.

In the wake of Garner’s death, Police Commissioner Bill Bratton ordered that the NYPD’s 35,000 officers be retrained in the proper use of force when subduing a suspect.

Garner was black. Pantaleo is white. And the incident has roiled relations between the police and minority residents on Staten Island.

10-Month-Old Baby Died After Locked In Hot Car; Foster Dad Arrested

What's up with people leaving their babies in hot cars?  We've seen this time and time again.  No excuses!

A foster parent was arrested today in the death of a 10-month-old girl who had been left for hours in a hot car, according to Wichita police.

Police got a call reporting a baby left on the backseat inside a car just before 7 p.m. on Thursday.

“We arrived on scene just a little before 7 p.m. on Thursday night,” Lt. Dan East, Wichita Police Department spokesperson told ABC News. “The girl was unconscious and unresponsive.”

The child was pronounced dead minutes after paramedics arrived on the scene, according to a police report by the Wichita Police Department.

The foster child was in the care of two men, who were questioned by the police on Thursday night. Attempts to reach the two men for comment were unsuccessful.

The foster couple had been trying to adopt the 10-month-old girl they had cared for nearly all her life. They also had three other foster children, ages 3, 5 and 18; and had two adopted children, ages 5 and 7, who were from the same biological parents as the 10-month-old girl.

"The 5-year-old and 7-year-old have been taken from the home and put in protective custody," East said.

“The 29-year-old dad picked up the girl from the babysitter and left her in the car,” East said.

“The two men were watching TV when the foster dad saw something that reminded him of the girl, and he ran outside and got the child out," East said. "They appeared really upset when we arrived on scene."

The girl's distraught maternal grandmother, Cindy Poe of Topeka, Kansas, demanded to see her granddaughter's body and her two other grandchildren who were taken away on Friday morning.

"I want answers," Poe told The Associated Press. "I want to know why my grandbaby was in that car."

Shortly before 1 a.m. Friday, police officers arrested Seth Jackson, 29, for aggravated child endangerment. The second man, 26, was not arrested. The case will be presented early next week to prosecutors.

Jackson has not yet been officially charged or arraigned.

Thursday’s highest temperature reached 96 degrees, which meant temperature could have surpassed 135 degrees in a closed car after an hour, according to The Weather Channel.
